Patrol
Deputies from the Washington Township substation patrol Washington Township around the clock.  Uniformed deputies and sergeants make up the patrol component.  Patrol functions include responding to complaints and citizen calls for service, taking incident reports, conducting the initial investigation at crime scenes, traffic law enforcement and traffic crash investigation, and preventive patrol.

Criminal Investigation
Detectives that are assigned to the Washington Township substation conduct follow-up investigations on property crimes, assaults, robbery, domestic violence, auto theft, missings and financial crimes.

Traffic Services
The motoring public has always been a concern in Washington Township.  The goal of Traffic Services is to educate the public on the connection between speed and other traffic law violations, and resultant traffic crashes.  As part of our educational program, volunteers operate the MPH Speed Display device.  This educational device serves to make drivers aware of their speed.

Community Oriented Policing/ Community Education
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is committed to the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing.  As part of that philosophy, we support community education and crime prevention in neighborhoods, schools, and businesses.  We believe that residents and business owners, must work in partnership with law enforcement to identify and address problems within the community and that the traditional role of law enforcement officers must be expanded to that of problem solver.
