Visitation Regulations

Visits with inmates will be at the discretion of the Sheriff or his designee. Please note that we cannot guarantee all visits.

Inmates are permitted one (1) visit per week with a maximum of three (3) persons, including children, permitted to visit with the inmate. The visitation week begins on Monday and runs through Sunday. A parent or legal guardian must accompany juveniles (persons under the age of eighteen.) 

You must sign in for visitation at least 15 minutes prior to the time you are trying to visit; for example, for the 1:00 visit, sign in by 12:45, etc.  The last visitation sign in time for regular visitation hours will be at 2:15pm in the afternoon and 7:45pm in the evenings.

8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Prohibited Items From Entering the Visitation Area:

  • Cell phones, radios, tape recorders, MP3 or CD players, electronic tablets, computers, etc.
  • Tobacco products, lighters, and matches
  • Baby strollers
  • Any type of baby bags or purses
  • Food, drink, candy, gum, etc. 
  • Weapons, pocket knives, box cutters, pepper spray, or any illegal contraband
  • Tools, fingernail clippers, hair picks, combs, brushes, lipstick, etc.
  • Books, magazines, newspaper, toys, games, umbrellas
  • Clothing: No tank tops, tube tops, low cut tops or dresses.  Short Shorts must be knee length, mini skirts, etc. (Any clothing item deemed inappropriate by staff).
All visitors must wear shirts and shoes, and clothing that is suitable for street wear. Swimsuits, see-through tops, etc., are not allowed.

Depositing
Funds may be left for inmates use at the automated kiosk located in the Jail Lobby—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or mailed to the inmates in care of the jail.  VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER CARDS AND CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED -- NO PERSONAL CHECKS.

Mail
Inmates may receive letters, money orders for commissary use, and photographs, as long as the photographs are not sexually explicit or contain nudity.  Effective May 15th, 2019, all inmate postal mail must be sent to the following address.

Book Policy

The Montgomery County Jail Staff will not accept books, magazines, parcels, newspapers, photocopied items, or any packages mailed or brought into the jail unless they pertain to legal correspondence from an attorney or the court.  This jail allows inmates to receive books in the mail but they must be mailed directly from the publisher to the inmate and must include the inmate's name and ID number.

Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic, or obscene.  Any book that does not meet the Montgomery County Justice Center standards will be disposed of.

Hard covered books  ill not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.

Posting Bonds
Bond may be posted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Inmate's Property Room Window in the lobby of the Montgomery County Jail. Call (937) 224-8447 to check on bond amounts. The State of Ohio House Bill 1 requires a Bail Surcharge. This cost is in addition to the bond amount and court costs set by the court. This cost can be as much as $85.00 for each bond and must be paid at the time the bond is posted.

How can I contact an inmate?
This facility will not forward incoming phone calls to an inmate or take messages for inmates. Phones are available for inmates to use, however, they may only place Collect, Prepaid Collect and Prepaid Calling Card calls from these phones. The Montgomery County Jail contracts with a private phone service called Pay Tel Communications that handles our inmate phone service. Inmates are allowed to talk for 20-minute increments, after 20 minutes the phone call will be terminated. How can I put an end to unwanted calls from an inmate at The Montgomery County Jail?
